our love story

How We Met:
A few years ago when Stephanie was still living in New York, one of her friends invited her to go on a hiking/kayaking trip. She didn’t want to go because she'd have to cross the river over to New Jersey (an NYC no-no), but her friend convinced her otherwise. During the ride over, the group was talking and Stephanie learned the guys they were meeting up with were also from the Philly/South Jersey area.

Stephanie and Wes met but didn't interact for the first half of the day as Stephanie went hiking and Wes went Kayaking. The second half of the day, there was a small incident where the girls didn't feel like hiking anymore and Wes and his friend had to tow them across the reservoir where they were hiking/kayaking. After their adventures at the reservoir, the group drove home, grilled, and had dinner outside. It was a fun night, everyone exchanged numbers, and then Stephanie and her friend took the train back home. 

Stephanie and Wes met during the height of Snapchat, so they were snapping each other a lot on the train ride home, and then it trickled into more. Stephanie and Wes continued to snap and text here and there, but we didn’t set up a time to go on a date until the new year (six months later). They met in July and went on their first date in January. They had the very best first date, which is so fitting to their personalities, and the rest is history!

Engagement Story:

Wes and Stephanie headed down to Cape May for a fun, fall weekend, but Stephanie knew *something* might happen. Both her mom and Wes were acting strangely all week and she had a suspicion. The weekend kicked off with lunch at Tisha's on Washington Street Mall, after lunch, Stephanie wanted to shop around but Wes was insistent that they go for a walk by the lighthouse. They got in the car and headed to the lighthouse where Wes asked Stephanie to "feel the temperature of the water." When Stephanie turned around, Wes was on one knee! After tears, a few awkward selfies, and lots of questions (Where did Wes hide the ring? When did he buy it? How long had he been hiding this secret?!) they went for a walk on the beach. If you're familiar with the beach at the Cape May Point Lighthouse, then you know there's a large rock right when you enter on the left. Wes was insistent on taking a walk around the rock and to Stephanie's surprise, a few of her best friends were hiding behind the rock! Then the celebration really started, the group popped champagne and celebrated. From there, they headed to the brewery to grab drinks where the second surprise was, Wes and Stephanie's family were waiting to celebrate! Many brews later, the group ended up grabbing dinner at the Rusty Nail and drinking a few too many drinks in the Boiler Room at Congress Hall! The whole weekend was so special thanks to family and friends.
